Valle del Cinca
From Aínsa to the Bielsa tunnel
This well-traveled route begins in the surroundings of Aínsa (just over 500m altitude). There we can see the river terraces of the Cinca, today occupied by crop fields.
Km 4.6 (+3.3 km)
At the end of the center of Labuerda (with a beautiful church from the 16th and 17th centuries, highlighting its tower), a narrow paved road begins that in 3.3 km takes us to San Vicente de Labuerda, a beautiful urban complex (Buil House stands out), but with a beautiful Romanesque church from the 12th century with a beautiful apse.
Km 19.5
Near Lafortunada there is the Badaín church (12th and 16th centuries), which is reflected on the waters of a small reservoir. Of this beautiful panorama we must highlight the Peña Llerga (2250 m).
Km 21.5-23.5.
Las Devotas Gorge. Beautiful gorge formed by hard limestone rock. Little by little we leave the vegetation of low areas, now finding wild (or red) pines and abundant mountain meadows.
On the way up to Bielsa we are accompanied by more humid vegetation, dominated by red pines, but with sargueras next to the river and black pines in the heights. Before arriving at Bielsa, you can see to our left the slopes that descend steeply from the Las Sucas mountain range. In this area it is advisable to make a stop due to the beautiful landscape of mountains and forests.
Km 33
Bielsa. Abundant services, museum, tourist information, beautiful town hall. A detour leads to the Pineta Valley. Our tour continues towards France.
We begin to enter the high mountains. The granites make up the head of these valleys crossed by the Barrosa River. The mountain meadows and huts (or cabins) make up a humid landscape dominated by pine forests, but with some riverside trees, especially sargueras and other species of the Salix genus.
Km 38.
Here a track starts that leads to the lake or Ibon de Ordiceto, 2370 m high. Walking, it takes about 3 hours to 3 hours 30 minutes to climb, and it has beautiful panoramas.
Km 42.5.
Next to a trailhead, shortly after passing the old customs, you access the Barrosa valley and circus (crowned by La Munia, 3,134 m). This valley is suitable for a nice excursion of shorter duration and more comfortable than the previous one (1h 20' it takes to reach the bottom of the valley).
